The intended audience for this video is other educators, the video below will provide examples of how I will incorporate Skype into my own classroom, by my ultimate goal is to challenge you (future educators) to adapt the knowledge I have given you about Skype to fit it into the personality and goals of your own classroom.
For those unfamiliar with Skype, it is a free internet video software that allows your to have a video call with any other person who has Skype, which could be around the block or around the world.
The specific NET-S Standards that using this technology could meet are:
2a. Interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety of digital environments and media
- Students meet this standard by interacting with peers, experts or others through Skype. Topics range from author talks (language arts) to talking with peers in other cities about weather habits (science)
- Students meet this standard by Skyping with students who are from other countries about their lifestyles
