In the second technology workshop that I attended, I learned a little bit about how teachers can incorporate smartboards into their daily teaching routines. If you are reading this and don't know what a smartboard is, it basically is a piece of technology that looks like a white board but acts like a giant computer screen. The workshop was my first experience with a smartboard. I would have like to try it out but time did not allow so I am still itching to try one out on my own. Based on what I learned at the workshop, I can see myself using the smartboard in two different contexts:
Math
Math
- The smartboard has tools such as a compass, rule, protractor, etc.
- With technology integration, it is my hope that students will be more motivated and excited about math. Truly any type of math problem can be solved on the smartboard and the class can offer up suggestions or correct problems as a class. So, that is why students overall math skills can be enhanced by the use of a smartboard
- The highlighter tool can help with the revision process
- It is my hope that students revision skills will improve with the use of a smartboard because of the keyboard feature and the highlighter tool. Students can revise papers as a class and offer creative suggestions in a helpful environment.
